Performance Management System

The Problem with People and their Performance Typically, procedures used by businesses for recruitment purposes are too superficial. Furthermore, once hired, the new incumbents frequently find themselves placed in the care of managers whose communication skills are lacking. Training that is intended to orientate them for their new roles is often sadly lacking in specifics.

Compounded, these shortfalls can lead to performance appraisal data that is based upon inaccurate premises that lead to inappropriate actions. Although key performance indicators should derive from documented processes and strategies, all too often, they do not. This oversight is frequently further compounded due to infrequent reporting and based upon spreadsheet data whose focus is task-related, rather than results-oriented.

The underlying business processes are frequently complex, lacking in visibility and subject to duplication, any or all of which make the reporting function unreliable.

Poor internal communications often means that the targets and plans needed to unify a company’s efforts fail to pervade the entire organisation. This leaves individuals uncertain of their contribution and its significance. Finally, budgets rather than strategies are too often allowed to become the key driver.

Our KPI Solution

As with most business problems, the solution is intelligent software, in this case a product that uses a 4-step management regimen of “Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Action”. With the steps listed below, the IsoMetrix Performance Management modules serve to ensure that employee performance remains fully-aligned with strategic goals.

  • Register corporate goals based on strategy to a single location with assigned ownership and make it accessible company-wide.
  • Manage performance, tracking that of individuals and aggregates against KPIs at fixed intervals and at all levels.
  • Use job templates to standardise KPIs for all measurable tasks sourced from documented strategies and processes.
  • Produce process summaries that include all of the steps, inputs, outputs and measurements relating to the various key processes and in which the relevant roles and responsibilities are compiled automatically.
  • Define job requirements more precisely, basing them upon specific, known demands such as, educational background, knowledge and experience, education, technical ability and track record.
  • Register the organisation’s KPIs using the KPI master module, which records the definitions, ownership, source, measurement parameters and business rules pertaining to each. Date is stored in a single location and also includes the means to classify its purpose as growth, compliance, quality etc.
  • Manage targets by defining the expected performance levels for specific goals, processes and jobs, and simplifying their localisation and review.
  • View the company’s project portfolio with a module that provides a detailed overview of all current and past projects. Although this is not a project management tool, it displays all of the relevant links to departments, personnel, processes and strategies for each overview, providing quick access to critical facts.
  • View cross-organisational performance with the QlikView dashboards designed to provide a company’s executives with the means to fulfil their critical role in strategic and analytical oversight.
  • Track delivery using the action manager to capture information regarding processes, people, performance and projects obtained through conversation.
